A Homeowner's Complete Guide to

Energy Independence

Zero Net Energy or Net Zero Energy simply refers to a home or building that
"generates as much renewable power and energy as is consumed annually"

The author walks you step by step through the unintentional process that led to his 1970s two story colonial home becoming ZERO NET ENERGY by producing enough totally GREEN ENERGY to ELIMINATE ALL YOUR UTILITY AND HEATING BILLS.

 You will learn:

v   Low and No Cost Ways to Dramatically Reduce or ELIMINATE your FUEL and UTILITY BILLS

v  How to Get Tax CREDITS, REBATES, Energy CONSERVATION CREDITS and FREE STUFF to Help You Save Energy

v  EARN THOUSANDS of DOLLARS  ANNUALLY from your Solar Panels

v  INCREASE the VALUE of YOUR HOME by much more than your investment

v  Help REDUCE GLOBAL WARMING

Can You Imagine NO Heating or Utility Bills to PAY

and BEING PAID $$ Thousands for Your Energy Production Instead?

Background
Becoming energy independent was not my original intention or motivation.  I simply did not want to be dependent upon people who hated us for the fuel that heated my home during our cold New England winters.  But one thing led to another and two years after taking the first step to becoming free from oil I find myself living in a Zero Net Energy Home - I had never heard the term “zero net energy” before the unintended journey began.

Natural gas is not available on our street and our previous experience with propane as a heat source for our cabin in western Maine left us with the impression, rightly or wrongly, that propane would be an expensive choice.

It appeared that cutting and splitting wood to reduce our dependency upon oil would continue to be our best option.  We burn between five and six cord of wood each heating season.  The exercise is good however; my wife of fifty years was beginning to complain a tiny bit about splitting, stacking and carrying all that wood into the house, never mind the mess it made for her to clean up.  :-)

My brother Bob owns an HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) business near Bangor, Maine.  He told me of a local company that had developed a revolutionary heating and cooling device that was very economical to operate.  Perhaps I would be interested in learning more about it.

And that’s how the transformation of our 1970’s two story colonial house into a Zero Net Energy Home began.
This is a our 1970's house with the solar panels installed.  The light colored box just beneath the chimney is the cold climate heat pump that both heats the house in the winter and cools then cools it in the summer. The central air-conditioning that came with the heat pump system was an added bonus as we didn't have central air conditioning before.

The heat pump and solar panels are two of three important components  the book covers that, when combined, lead to ENERGY INDEPENDENCE and freedom from utility and fuel bills.   Reaching NET ZERO ENERGY status without applying the third component is very unlikely.  But not to worry, all the information and data you need to complete the process is in the book.

ADDED BONUS
The second half of the book is a comprehensive listing of State, Local and Federal Grants, Credits, Rebates and Free Stuff and includes websites where the latest and up to date data con be found.
